Terms of sale and use

These terms apply when you buy, download or use StyleTyper, from our website or from the Microsoft Store. By doing any of these, you agree to them. "We" and "us" mean InkConfetti, the maker of StyleTyper. "You" means the person who buys or uses StyleTyper.

The End User License Agreement that comes with StyleTyper (the EULA) also applies. If the two ever disagree about how you may use the software, the EULA wins. These terms cover buying it.

1. What you get

• StyleTyper, a dictation app that turns your speech into text on your own computer
• A license key for one person, to use on two of their own computers at the same time
• Every Style that ships with StyleTyper. Styles you add from the Style Gallery are covered by these terms too
• All updates to version 1

Your key works with the Windows, Mac and Linux versions of StyleTyper. The two computers can run any of them.

2. Trying before you buy

You get 2,500 free words to try StyleTyper. No card and no account are needed. When the free trial ends, StyleTyper stops typing until you activate a key.

3. Buying

On our website. License keys are sold on styletyper.com. Our payment provider, which acts as the seller of record, handles payment and tax. The price is shown at checkout before you pay, with any tax, and is paid once. There is no subscription. After you pay, you get your license key by email. Prices may change, but a price change never affects a license you already bought.

From the Microsoft Store. StyleTyper is free to download in the Microsoft Store, with the same free words. Microsoft does not sell license keys for StyleTyper. When you want a key, you buy it on our website, as above, and these terms apply to that purchase.

4. Your license

• One purchase gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use StyleTyper. You buy a license to use it; you do not buy the software itself
• You may use it on two of your own computers. Each computer is activated once, with your key
• To move it to a new computer, deactivate it on the old one (or skip that if the old one is gone) and remove the old computer on our license page, styletyper.com/license. You can do this yourself twice per key. After that, write to us and we will move it for you
• A business may buy a license for each person who uses StyleTyper. One key is for one person, not for a team

5. What you may not do

• Share your license key with other people, or sell, rent or lend it
• Copy StyleTyper or its Styles except to install it on your own computers
• Reverse engineer, decompile or modify StyleTyper, except where the law allows it
• Get around the activation or the free-word limit, or help anyone else do so
• Use StyleTyper to break the law or anyone else's rights, for example by recording people without the consent the law requires

6. Ownership

StyleTyper, its Styles, its name and its logo belong to us. The open-source components inside StyleTyper are used under their own licenses, which are listed inside the app.

7. Your words are yours

Everything you dictate, and the text StyleTyper produces from it, belongs to you. It stays on your computer, and we never see it. Our privacy policy, styletyper.com/privacy, says exactly what StyleTyper sends and what our website keeps.

8. Refunds

You can ask for a full refund within 30 days of buying, without giving a reason. Write to [email protected] from the email address you bought with, or with your order number. We refund the full price to the card or account you paid with.

If something is broken, tell us that instead. We would rather fix it than take your money back, but the refund is there either way.

This is the same if you installed StyleTyper from the Microsoft Store. You bought your key on our website, so the refund comes from us, not from Microsoft.

9. No warranty

We work hard to make StyleTyper accurate and reliable, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". Speech recognition makes mistakes, so check anything important before you send it. Some languages are recognized better than others. We do not promise that StyleTyper will be free of errors, will work without interruption, will work with every program or microphone, or will suit every purpose. Do not rely on it alone where a wrong word could cause harm, for example medical, legal or emergency use.

10. Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows:

• we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit, revenue or business, that comes from using or not being able to use StyleTyper
• our total liability to you for anything to do with StyleTyper is limited to the amount you paid for it, or US$5 if you paid nothing

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud

11. Ending the license

You can stop using StyleTyper and uninstall it at any time. If you break these terms, your license ends and you must stop using StyleTyper. If you get a refund, your license ends too. Sections 6, 7, 9, 10 and 13 continue after the license ends.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your purchase is the one in force on the day you bought StyleTyper, unless you agree to a newer one, for example when you accept an update that comes with new terms.

13. Your rights where you live

Nothing in these terms takes away any protection the consumer law of your own country gives you. If one part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
